Tommy Sands is a singer/songwriter who has achieved legendary status here in Ireland and internationally. From right beside us here in Co. Down Tommy is a member of the highly influential Sands Family who have brought Irish music everywhere from New York's Carnegie Hall to the Olympic Stadium in Moscow. His songs have been sung by many top stars including Joan Baez, Dolores Keane, The Dubliners, Cara Dillon, Sean Keane and Kathy Mattea. Tommy's many admirers include such famous names as Pete Seeger and our own Nobel prize winning poet Seamus Heaney. Tommy Sands is, without doubt, one of the most important songwriters in Ireland.
